Headline News:

US EDUCATION DEPARTMENT — On Thursday, the White House will propose merging the Education and Labor departments to form a single federal agency. This plan is a part of the administration’s efforts to streamline and overhaul a bureaucracy that President Trump and his supporters consider to be excessively large and bloated.

The proposal to reorganize federal agencies was ordered by Mick Mulvaney, the head of the Office of Management and Budget, over a year ago. It seeks to merge overlapping and duplicative offices and programs and eliminate unnecessary ones.

Additionally, the plan is expected to introduce significant changes to the government’s provision of benefits for low-income Americans. This includes consolidating safety-net programs that are currently administered through multiple agencies, which conservatives have criticized as excessive.
